Example equipment specification

Following is an example equipment specification for a cluster.

As of the beginning of 2010.

Surely, you may use less devices, but if you have sufficient funds, we would recommend that you follow the recommendation herein.

  • Storage (2 units) - Dual Xeon E5530 / 16 Gb RAM / 12x1Tb SATA / RAID 10
  • MySQL node (2 units) - Dual Xeon E5420 / 16 Gb RAM / 4x140GB SAS / RAID 10
  • Master node (2 units) - Dual Xeon E5420/ 16 Gb RAM / HDD 160GB SATA
  • Worker - (2 units) - Dual Xeon E5420/ 16 Gb RAM / HDD 160GB SATA

If you do not need 100% uptime and you can quickly repair a failed node, you do not need to duplicate all the nodes. For example, expensive Storage and MySQL can be duplicated later.
