Reverse DNS records

PTR records resolves IP-addresses into hostnames. A PTR record is the exact opposite an A record, which points a domain name to an IP-address.
PTR records are used for the reverse DNS lookup. Using the IP-address you may get the associated hostname.
This module can be used to manage reverse DNS records. You can create new reverse DNS records, edit and delete existing ones.

- IP-address - addresses from the a certain network.
- Domain name - reverse domain name corresponding to the IP-address.
- Owner - IPmanager user who owns the IP-address.
- Type - the way how IP-addresses can be used:
- primary - addresses of this type can be used for creating virtual private servers through VDSmanager.
- alias - addresses of this type can be used for assigning alias IP-addresses to virtual private servers through VDSmanager.
- dns - addresses of this type can be used for creating slave names servers through DNSmanager.
- ds - addresses of this type can be used for creating dedicated servers through DSmanager.
- Notes - field for additional information.
Add new PTR record
To add a new PTR record, click the "New" icon and fill out the form field:
- IP-address - enter an IP-address which PTR record you wish to register.
- Domain name - enter a domain name associated with this IP-address. The domain name must be followed by the dot.
Edit PTR record parameters
To edit the reverse domain record parameters, select it from the list, click the "Edit" icon and fill out the form:
- IP-address - enter an IP-address which reverse domain record (RTP) you wish to register.
- Domain name - enter a domain name that corresponds to this IP-address. The domain name must be followed by the dot.
- Type - select a type of IP-address allocation:
- unspecified - purpose is not set clearly.
- primary - addresses of this type can be used for creating virtual private servers through VDSmanager.
- alias - addresses of this type can be used for assigning alias IP-addresses to virtual private servers through VDSmanager.
- dns - addresses of this type can be used for creating slave names servers through DNSmanager.
- ds - addresses of this type can be used for creating dedicated servers through DSmanager.
- Owner - enter the IPmanager user who owns this IP-address.
- Note - enter additional information.
Delete PTR records
To delete a reverse PTR record, select it from the list and click the "Delete" icon. Confirm that you want to delete the selected PTR record by clicking OK on the following form. All the associated IP-addresses will be released.
