Control panel policy specifies conditions for managing the actions the control panel performs. For example, a policy might allow users to install Perl modules or PHP extensions. Control panel policy can be used for everything from automatically stopping users exceeding the traffic to specifying prefixes in MySQL databases users names. Normally, you assign everyone to the same control panel policy.

Click "Policy" on the navigation bar and check the boxes in the form. The following form lists options available in the control panel policy.

The Limits tab

Module «Policy»
  • Disable overselling - disable overselling that allows resellers to allocate users more resources than they are allowed to use by the server administrator.
  • Check reduction of limits - select the check box to prevent users from reducing the limits if the resource usage exceeds the specified limit.
  • Suspend user accounts if their traffic limit is exceeded - suspend users and their WWW domains, if they have exceeded their traffic limit.

The Privileges tab

Module «Policy»
  • Allow users to install PHP extensions - select the check box to allow your users to install PHP extensions on the server. PHP will be available for all WWW domains of such users, and all the other users can enable them for their WWW domains, if necessary.
  • Allow users to install Perl modules - select the check box to allow your users to install Perl modules on the server.
  • Allow users to install Python modules - select the check box to to allow your users to install Python modules on the server.
  • Allow shared IP addresses for all users - select the check box to allow resellers and users to use shared IP-addresses, if they have assigned IP-addresses.
  • Allow users to create FTP accounts with private home directory - select the check box if you want to allow your users to create FTP accounts with home directory like /home/user-name/users/FTP-account/. We recommend using this function for security reasons.

The Database tab

Module «Policy»
  • Add prefix to database names - all the database users' names will have the prefix admin_, where admin is the name of a MySQL database owner. This will prevent control panel users from creating databases with the same names.
  • Add prefix to database user names - the name of the database owner will be added to every new user.
  • Disk quota includes database size - disk space overage may trouble functioning of the MySQL server, if the database size is specified in its quota. If you selected this check box, the database size cannot exceed the user's disk space limit.
  • Do not include database size into disk quota - the size of the user's databases will be subtracted from its disk space quota.

The Domain tab

Module «Policy»
  • Do not check domain owners - do not check the owner of a higher-level domain while creating a new domain. If this option is set, DNS records for all users will be made in one domain zone.
  • Allow administrators to mix domains - allow an administrator to mix subdomains that belong to his users.
  • Allow resellers to mix domains - allow a reseller to mix subdomains of his users.

The Other tab

Module «Policy»
  • Send low disk space and traffic notifications - if the user consumes 90% or more of disk space or traffic available, a corresponding notification will be sent to his email address. The cron job (ispmgr task.daily) will daily sent the notification.
  • Show domain aliases - display the aliases on the list of WWW domains. Using this function you can quickly search for the required WWW domains.
  • Add prefix to FTP account usernames - FTP accounts will have the prefix admin_, where admin is the name of an account owner. This will forbid different control panel users to create FTP accounts with the same names.
  • Apply preset changes - select the box to apply the changes made to user presets to all accounts that were created according to these presets. If you manually upgrade a parameter in the preset, and it does not match the one in the preset, this upgrade won't be applied.
  • Automatically change values in the presets - check the box to automatically apply the changes made to user presets to all accounts that were created according to these presets. Some resources may vary from those specified in the template or exceed the maximum allowed values.
