Transferring ISPmanager between servers

From ISPWiki

Jump to: navigation, search

The most import thing that you must keep in mind when transferring ISPmanager between two servers is keeping sites up and running. There are two ways of transfer: to a similar server or to a server where another software is installed.

The first variant is easy: you should transfer the whole system, you'd better just change hard disks. Otherwise, you can transfer the panel using the rsynс utility. In this case neither the server IP address nor it settings are changed, so you do not need to customize anything else.

The second variant is more complicated: first you need to prepare the server, then import your users. Only user files and settings will be imported, root files won't be imported.

Contents

Preparing ISPmanager

  • Install] the control panel on the server.
  • Import user templates
  • Manually import backup plans, cron jobs (only for root), whitelists, and blacklists.

Import ISPmanager

  • If some options are specified in the configuration file on the old server, copy them manually into the configuration file on the new server. You cannot copy the whole file, because certain paths and passwords will not match.
  • Integrate ISPmanager with IPmanager, if needed.
  • If plug-ins were created in the panel

Import plug-ins' xml that are located in /usr/local/ispmgr/etc/ and named as ispmgr_mod_your-plagin.xml

Import plug-in handlers that are located in the /usr/local/ispmgr/addon/ directory

If Cgi scripts are used for plug-ins, you should also import them. The scripts are located in /usr/local/ispmgr/cgi/

  • Id custom themes were set up, import the directory /usr/local/ispmgr/skins/

Preparing the server for data import

  • If there are some non-standard settings on the server (for example, specific settings in the web-server configuration file), you should configure them manually. Third-party software (such as Apache-Tomcat or RoundCube) should be also installed and configured.
  • Compare versions of Perl, Phython and php, as well as the list of modules and extensions. Make sure that sites will work with the version that is installed on the new server. If you need a different one, reinstall the required version manually, we strongly do not recommend installing them in the "Applications" module.

User import

  • Import users from the old server into the new one using the User import function.
  • To check that sites are running, specify the IP address associated with the domain name into the hosts file on your machine.
  • if everything configured correctly, set up integration between ISPmanager and DNSmanager, delete the domain names from the old server. Click the "Update" icon in the Domain names module on the new server and wait for DNS chache update.
