VPS templates (VDSmanager)

From ISPWiki

The VPS template is a set of the predefined parameters of virtual private servers that you can use in order to facilitate creation of your VPS.

Depending on your hosting requirements you can create several templates that will differ in the amount of resources that can be allocated to a virtual server. You may fill out out server configuration or you may choose from the list of available templates.

In this module you can create a new VPS template, edit parameters of an existing template or delete any of them if you do not need it any more. You can also import an existing VPS template from a remote VDSmanager.

View the VPS templates list

  • Name- name of the template displayed in the list of available templates in the virtual private servers creation form.
  • Resources - set of parameters that defines the maximum amount of system resources, such as memory, processor time and disk space allocated to this template.
  • Monthly traffic - maximum amount of traffic that can be used per month.

Add new VPS template

To add a new VPS template, click the "New" icon and fill out the form:

Module «VDS templates»
  • Name - enter the name for a template that will be displayed in the list of VPS templates in the form for virtual private servers creation and modification.
  • Disk space - enter the maximum amount of the disk space (in MB) allocated to this virtual private server.
  • Memory - enter the maximum amount of the operating memory (in MB) allocated to this virtual private server.
  • Swap file - enter the maximum size of the server swap file. We recommend using twice as much swap as the maximum amount of memory allocated to a virtual private server. This field is shown, if you check the box "Swap limits" in the Policy (VDSmanager) module.
  • CPU - enter the maximum amount of (in MHz) CPU allocated to this virtual private server.
  • Number of CPU - enter the number of virtual processes.
  • Processes - enter the maximum number of processes that this virtual private server can use.
  • File descriptors - enter the maximum number of simultaneously open files descriptors.
  • Monthly traffic - enter the maximum amount of traffic allocated to this server per month (in MB).
  • Channel bandwidth - enter the maximum channel bandwidth. For KMV this parameter is measured in kilobytes.
  • Disk template - from the drop-down menu select a set of the pre-installed software that will be mounted in the root directory of the virtual private server. Its parameters can be configured in the Disk template module.

Edit VPS template parameters

To edit a VPS template, locate the one you wish to edit, click the "Edit" icon and modify the settings you want to change.

Delete VPS template

To delete an existing VPS template, select it from the list and click the "Delete" icon. Confirm that you want to delete the template by clicking OK in the following form.

Import VPS template

If you can access several VDSmanager control panels located on different servers, you can use a VPS template created on the other servers instead of creating it again. To import the existing template you need, click the "Import" icon and fill out the form:

Module «VDS templates»
  • Server - enter a domain name or the IP-address of the remote server where VDSmanager is installed.
  • Login - enter a username to access VDSmanager on the remote server.
  • Password - enter a password to access VDSmanager on the remote server.

Once you have provided all access details and clicked OK, all templates created on this remote server will be put on the list of VPS templates.
